2024 Weatherman:

The forecast was horrendous.

2024 Group Start:

Seriously, this is the launch group for Mohican Trippple 9. Doug.

With the incoming weather, an audible was called and completing all three routes from Friday afternoon through Sunday would qualify as completing Mohican Trippple 9.

Sunday's pic with a few more peeps:

The single track:

For 2024, the single track was the main 25-mile loop. 10 riders hit the single track on Friday night. Turns out it wasn't needed. Pic of the trail the next day:
The rain did show up for a couple hours on Saturday afternoon, but the trail was so dry it absorbed it all up and more riders hit the trail a second time on Saturday evening and Sunday morning!

The Grav:

The gravel section was another 25-miles. 6-riders went out on Friday night to get a head start on getting the Trippple completed. They had a gorgeous night for Mohican gravel riding.

The beginning 4-miles of the Valley Stream climb through the finish of Big Hill road is arguably the best section of bike riding in the world.

Here is John's Uber. Obviously, the gravel is pretty rough on the cars.

The Road:

Riders set off on the road portion ranging from early to late Saturday. The route was similar to previous years, but as always, a few new climbs were added to change it up.

Profile of Trumpower road:
Bryan's derailleur in that second 15-percenter:
Boss move. Bryan gets a ride back to the start and completes the road portion, and the Trippple, on a hardtail MTB.
Happiness is riding bikes. With friends. In the rain. Doug is ok too.
Long live Kling road:

  • MTB: 23-miles

  • Total: 104-miles

Note: I had a smidge of GPS issues so the miles and elevation is likely less than the actuals.

All-Time Finisher List:

John's Post on Flatlanders FB Page:

This year’s Mohican Trippple 9 did not disappoint. With the threat of severe weather and tornado watches had the riders shuffling ride times. But this did not deter us from conquering the challenge. 25 miles of MTB, 25 miles of gravel and 50 miles of Road. Congrats to all who succeeded! David Castillo won door prize donated from Spoke Life bike shop.  Big thanks to Doug Metzger and Chris Holmes for another successful grueling and demanding challenge.

Note: This is John's fourth attempt at the Trippple. He completed it. This is the embodiment of the spirit of the Trippple. It's hard, finish it. That finisher list above is loaded with DNF years. Including all the riders with 6 and 7 finishes. Great job John!

Roseanne's review:

Had fun tent 🏕️ camping with our new tent and biking the Mohican Trippple Challenge this weekend with friends, ~11,000ft of climbing in 107.5mi!  You must complete the 25mi mountain bike loop, then 25mi of gravel & 50mi of road.  Mike was a finisher as he completed all legs, I did not complete the intense mountain bike loop, so a “P” is crossed out on my shirt 🤣.  Fun times!!

Future of the Trippple:

Unknown. But Mohican Trippple X has a nice ring to it...
